Before building, a development permit must be obtained from the Development Officer of the County of Paintearth No. 18.

For all lands designated as "A - Agricultural District" the cost of a development permit is $50.00 for Permitted uses: first farm dwelling or mobile home, and accessory buildings, as well as for Home Occupation permits.

Residential Discretionary uses such as additional farm dwellings or mobile homes are $100 and Non-Residential/Industrial/Commercial Discretionary uses such as airports, churches, community halls, intensive agriculture, kennels, schools, etc are $200.

Applications submitted on projects after development has commenced will be subject to a 50% surcharge of the respective application fee. This is to encourage all prosective applications to get started with the right information and save costly errors in the future.

Once the development permit has been approved by the County, application can be made to Palliser Regional Municipal Services for Safety Code Permits including building, electrical, plumbing and gas.
